South Korean crypto exchange Bithumb is investigating a data leak following a breach of its internal mobile system, Yonhap News Agency reported on Wednesday.
The exchange discovered the breach on Tuesday and notified the Korea Internet & Security Agency and the Personal Information Protection Commission the same day, according to Yonhap, citing industry sources. Bithumb is assessing the extent of the incident, including whether customer information was exposed.
Bithumb said its internal work system is separate from its cryptocurrency trading platform, meaning the breach does not provide access to customers’ crypto assets. The exchange said it would issue an official announcement on Wednesday morning.
