Bitmain Accelerates US Expansion with Planned Mining Rig Factory
Bitmain, the dominant force in cryptocurrency mining hardware production, is advancing its US expansion with a new manufacturing facility slated to open by September 2024.
The initiative, first announced in December, marks a significant step in the company’s global strategy.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Irene Gao, Bitmain’s global business head, revealed that the facility—to be based in either Texas or Florida—will serve as both a production hub and a new US headquarters. Trial operations are expected in early 2026, scaling to full capacity by late 2026.
The move aligns with Washington’s push to strengthen domestic supply chains in critical tech sectors, including crypto mining, which is increasingly grouped with semiconductors and renewable energy as a strategic industry.
Gao noted that while US labor costs are higher, the decision mitigates geopolitical and trade risks, such as shifting tariff policies.
