Ripple Labs and the SEC have agreed to drop their appeals, finalizing a key 2023 court ruling and closing a major chapter in the crypto industry’s regulatory battles.

The Second Circuit Court approved the joint dismissal on Thursday, ensuring that Judge Analisa Torres’ split decision—which differentiated between XRP sales to retail and institutional investors—stands as precedent.

Ripple’s legal chief Stuart Alderoty hailed the resolution, signaling a return to normal operations. The SEC had initially sued Ripple in 2020, alleging unregistered securities sales.
