Former President Donald Trump has selected economist Stephen Miran, a known advocate for cryptocurrency, to fill a seat on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
Miran, who has advised Trump since the start of his second term, was praised by the former president in a Thursday post on Truth Social:
“He has been with me from the beginning of my Second Term, and his expertise in the World of Economics is unparalleled—He will do an outstanding job.”
If confirmed, Miran will occupy a recently vacated position on the central bank’s board, succeeding Adriana Kugler, whose term was set to expire in 2026. Kugler announced her resignation last week, stating she would return to Georgetown University as a professor this fall.
