Binance Elevates Co-Founder Yi He to Co-CEO Role Alongside Richard Teng
Binance has appointed its co-founder, Yi He, to the position of co-chief executive officer, placing one of the exchange’s original architects into a formal top leadership role beside CEO Richard Teng.
The announcement was made publicly by Richard Teng on stage at Binance Blockchain Week. Teng stated that Yi He, having been a core part of the executive leadership since Binance’s inception, saw her promotion as “a natural progression” for the company.
Teng highlighted that He, previously the chief marketing officer, plays a vital role in growing the Binance community and leading product innovation. In response, Yi He noted that sharing the CEO title would leverage their complementary backgrounds, with Teng contributing his deep experience in regulated financial markets.
Yi He is a veteran in the crypto space and co-founded Binance with Changpeng “CZ” Zhao in 2017. Richard Teng assumed the CEO role in November 2023 following CZ’s resignation and guilty plea to charges brought by the US Department of Justice, having previously led Binance’s regional markets outside the US.
