North Korea has denied responsibility for the $6.3 billion hack of Binance, describing US accusations as “absurd rhetoric”. The statement came as the cryptocurrency exchange continued to restore withdrawals and reported signs of improving customer activity.

Binance said net customer withdrawals had reached $4.72 billion by Monday. However, the exchange reported on Tuesday that hourly deposits were exceeding withdrawals, suggesting that outflows were easing. It has also launched a campaign to attract users and rebuild confidence following the breach.

The FBI blamed North Korea for the attack over the weekend. Kim Yo Jong, sister of leader Kim Jong Un, rejected the allegations as evidence of continued US hostility towards Pyongyang, adding that North Korea had “issues to reconsider” in its relations with Washington.
