Former Director of the Securities and Exchange Commission Leaves Coinbase

Brett Redfearn, a former director at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), has recently left Coinbase, The Block has reported.

According to the news outlet, Redfearn has left his post at the cryptocurrency exchange just 4 months after joining the company’s team. The Wall Street Journal has been the first magazine to report on the leave.

Brett has been working as capital markets head of Coinbase since he was hired by the exchange in March. A company spokesman said:

“We appreciate his contributions and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

According to sources, he has decided to leave his post at the exchange after Coinbase decided it would “shift its priorities away from digital-asset securities.”
