A court has found former BitMEX business development director Greg Dwyer guilty of violating the US Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and has sentenced him to one year of probation.

According to local media, he has been allowed to serve probation outside the United States, given his residence in Bermuda.

His representative has said:

“The government’s tough approach to prosecuting Mr Dwyer is regrettable. He is happy to put this matter behind him and looks forward to continuing his professional career and personal life.”

The US Department of Justice filed in October 2020 charges of violating the BSA against co-founders of the exchange Arthur Hayes, Ben Delo, Samuel Reid and Greg Dwyer.
