Whale Alert, a crypto whale tracking service, detected on April 21 the activity of a bitcoin address that had been dormant for over 10 years.

The address transferred 278 BTC ($7.8 million), split roughly evenly into three new wallets.

It is thought that the original owner of the Mt.Gox exchange and the creator of Ripple, Jed McCaleb, could be the whale.

This movement of BTC comes on the heels of two other long-dormant crypto transfers: 2.04 million DOGE in February, and 244,148 ETH in March, both of which were moved by three whales within several minutes of each other.

The main part of the assets was bought by the unknown user at a price of $12 and $195 per coin in October 2012 and May 2013, respectively.
