Chinese mining companies operating in the US have raised concerns over national security. The New York Times reported on this issue, citing sources from the US government.

Since the ban on cryptocurrency mining in China in 2021, many companies have relocated to the United States.

Some of these companies have been linked to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) or state-owned enterprises, as reported by NYT.

One specific location that has caused concerns is a mining facility in Cheyenne, Wyoming, situated near a Microsoft data center and a military base.

In an August 2022 report to the Committee on Foreign Investment, Microsoft expressed worry that this facility could potentially be used for intelligence-gathering by the Chinese.

According to anonymous government sources, they have been monitoring the Wyoming facility for several months and have taken steps to mitigate any potential threats to national security.
