A Nigerian court has postponed the tax evasion case against Binance to April 30 to allow the local tax authority to address a request by the cryptocurrency exchange.

Binance seeks to annul an order permitting court documents to be served via email, as stated by their lawyer on Monday.

The lawyer, Chukwuka Ikwuazom, argued that the order should be set aside because the tax authority didn’t obtain court permission to serve documents outside Nigeria. Binance has no physical office in the country.

“The order for substituted service granted on February 11, 2025, to Binance, which is registered and based in the Cayman Islands, is improper and should be invalidated,” Ikwuazom stated.

Nigeria has filed a lawsuit demanding Binance pay $79.5 billion for alleged economic damages caused by its operations and $2 billion in unpaid taxes, according to court documents.
