Ledger Regains Control of Discord Server
Ledger, a hardware wallet manufacturer, has regained control of its Discord server after a hacker briefly breached security by compromising an account.
The incident alarmed the community, sparking concerns about the safety of their crypto assets. Ledger’s Quintin Boatwright explained that a contracted moderator’s account was compromised, allowing a malicious bot to post scam links in a channel.
The hacker directed users to a fraudulent website to enter their recovery phrases, granting access to their crypto wallets. Those who warned others were muted or banned as the attacker used bots to silence them and facilitate the scam’s spread.
The Ledger team acted swiftly by removing the bot, deactivating the compromised account, reporting the scam website, and reviewing all permissions, containing the breach before further damage could occur.
