Kraken has been granted a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license by the Central Bank of Ireland, positioning it to provide regulated digital asset services throughout the European Economic Area (EEA).

The approval marks a significant regulatory milestone, allowing Kraken to expand its operations across all 30 EEA member states. The company emphasized that this license complements its existing registrations as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) in several European markets, including Spain, France, and the Netherlands.

Arjun Sethi, Kraken’s co-CEO, stated that the license reinforces the exchange’s commitment to compliance while enabling broader access to crypto services for retail and institutional clients.

The MiCA framework, which became fully effective in late 2023, establishes uniform crypto regulations across the EU.
