Amsterdam-based crypto exchange Bitvavo has secured a MiCA license from Dutch regulators, positioning it for expanded operations across Europe.

The Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework, which began enforcement this year, standardizes rules for digital asset firms.

Bitvavo CEO Mark Nuvelstijn welcomed the approval, emphasizing the need for uniform regulation: “A level playing field in Europe requires consistent rules and enforcement.”

Chief Risk Officer Jeetan Patel noted the “efficient” licensing process, highlighting collaboration with the AFM. The approval allows Bitvavo to serve customers EU-wide under MiCA’s investor protection and compliance standards.
