Metaplanet is doubling down on Bitcoin—again. The Tokyo-based firm has scooped up another 1,005 BTC for $108 million, pushing its total holdings to 13,350 BTC and vaulting past competitors Galaxy Digital and CleanSpark.

CEO Simon Gerovich revealed the latest purchase was executed at an average price of $107,601 per Bitcoin, valuing Metaplanet’s stash at roughly $1.4 billion.

With this move, the company now ranks as the fifth-largest corporate Bitcoin holder worldwide—ahead of industry heavyweights—though BitcoinTreasuries.net has yet to reflect the update.

“From 3,350 BTC to 13,350 in just three months—this is just the beginning,” Gerovich declared on X, referencing the firm’s ambitious 210,000 BTC target by 2027.

The announcement coincided with two major financial maneuvers:

  • A ¥30 billion ($208 million) zero-interest bond issuance, due Dec. 2025.
  • A buyback plan for its third bond series, originally issued in November 2024 as interest-bearing, collateralized debt.
