Digital asset company Securitize has launched blockchain-based versions of shares in major US companies including Apple, Nvidia and Microsoft.
The tokenised stocks will initially run on Solana and will be available to eligible investors in the US, EU and other permitted markets. Securitize said the tokens are backed by the underlying shares and retain the economic benefits and investor rights associated with them.
Trading will initially be available during extended market hours, with Securitize planning to introduce 24-hour trading later. The company also expects its products to trade on the New York Stock Exchange’s planned round-the-clock venue and a proposed venue from OKX and Intercontinental Exchange.
