The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has secured a court-backed agreement preventing cryptocurrency exchange HTX from knowingly promoting its services unlawfully to UK customers.

The regulator sued HTX, formerly known as Huobi, in October 2025 over alleged illegal crypto promotions. Following the legal proceedings, the exchange took steps to exit the UK market and agreed not to target, solicit or actively seek to engage UK consumers.

The FCA said the settlement sends a warning to overseas crypto firms that they remain subject to UK law when marketing services to British customers. The case marked the regulator’s first High Court action against an overseas crypto company over promotions to UK consumers.
