Infrastructure company Blockstream is to cooperate with Australian investment bank Macquarie to a pilot project for carbon neutral Bitcoin mining in the United States, the former has announced via Twitter.
As part of the collaboration, Macquarie will leverage Blockstream’s mining infrastructure and expertise in hosting crypto mining equipment.
The joint venture will test carbon neutral alternatives in this area. If it is successful, the partners will launch new sites as the green energy infrastructure develops further.
The partnership with Macquarie will be the next milestone for Blockstream following similar agreements with Aker and Square.
The Macquarie Group is one of the largest institutional investors in renewable energy infrastructure.
Experts from Square and ARK Invest have earlier presented a solar-powered mining model that facilitates the transition of energy grids to renewable sources.
