Popular US movie theater chain AMC Theatres is one step closer to cryptocurrencies now that it has started allowing its users to buy e-gift cards with them.

From now on, AMC customers can buy digital gift cards with cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) directly through AMC’s website, its mobile app and theaters, the company’s CEO Adam Aron announced on October 5.

The ability to pay for these products with cryptos has been enabled through a partnership with cryptocurrency payment processor BitPay, allowing consumers to purchase e-cards of up to $200.

The company’s CEO has paid particular attention to Dogecoin (DOGE) among the digital assets accepted for AMC’s e-card purchases. He hinted in September that AMC will include DOGE in the list of cryptocurrencies accepted for tickets by the end of 2021.

Aron announced the company’s plans to accept Bitcoin payments for movie tickets in August, expecting to roll out the new payment option by 2022. The cinema chain also plans to support four other cryptocurrencies: Dogecoin, Ether, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash.
