Brian Armstrong Received A $6.3M Compensation in 2022

Brian Armstrong, the CEO of crypto exchange Coinbase, received $6.3 million in compensation for legal fees and personal safety in 2022, according to a report to the SEC.

This is a significant increase from the $1.9 million he received in 2021. The report did not specify the reasons for the increase.

Other top managers of Coinbase were also compensated well, with COO Emilie Choi receiving $23.5 million, CFO Alesia Haas receiving $12 million, product director Surojit Chatterjee receiving $20.7 million, and General Counsel Paul Grewal receiving $7.5 million.

All five executives receive the same annual salary of $1 million, with the majority of payments coming in the form of dividends for options and shares of the company.

As of April 2022, Armstrong owned a 16% stake in Coinbase, with a voting share of almost 60%.
