Vanguard, a leading asset management company, has appointed Salim Ramji, a former Blackrock executive known for his pro-Bitcoin stance, as its new CEO.

Ramji, who played a key role in the approval and launch of BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) earlier this year, assumed his new position at Vanguard on May 14.

This move has prompted industry observers to speculate about the possibility of Ramji challenging Vanguard’s historical resistance to Bitcoin or even initiating a late application for a spot Bitcoin ETF.

In a May 15 social media post, Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart expressed skepticism about Vanguard launching its own spot Bitcoin ETF under Ramji’s leadership.

However, Seyffart suggested that Ramji might influence a policy shift allowing Vanguard clients to purchase spot Bitcoin ETFs through its brokerage platform.
