FTX Bankruptcy Estate Files Lawsuit Against Anthony Scaramucci
The FTX bankruptcy estate is seeking to recover more than $100 million from SkyBridge Capital and its founder, Anthony Scaramucci.
This amount represents the funds spent by former FTX CEO Sam “SBF” Bankman-Fried on sponsorship and investment deals with Scaramucci and SkyBridge which occurred as early as 2022.
Bankman-Fried made a series of investments and partnerships with SkyBridge and Scaramucci, starting with a $12 million sponsorship of the SALT conference in January 2022.
In March of the same year, Bankman-Fried directed Alameda Research to invest $10 million in the SkyBridge Coin Fund. Later, in September 2022, FTX acquired a 30% stake in the companies managing SkyBridge’s investment vehicles for $45 million.
The attorneys for FTX contend that this investment was not financially sound, arguing that FTX could have easily purchased the same basket of cryptocurrencies for a lower cost.
