Metaplanet Ramps Up Bitcoin Holdings with 1,088 BTC Purchase

Metaplanet, Japan’s leading corporate Bitcoin investor, has bought another 1,088 BTC for ¥16.885 billion ($117.5 million), bringing its total stash to 8,888 BTC (~$930 million). The purchase price averaged $108,051 per Bitcoin.

This acquisition follows Metaplanet’s $50 million bond sale last week.

The firm has rapidly expanded its Bitcoin reserves in 2025, adding 7,126 BTC so far. It now eyes 10,000 BTC by December.

After pivoting to a Bitcoin-heavy treasury in April 2024, Metaplanet became Asia’s top public BTC holder and a global top 10. CEO Simon Gerovich cites MicroStrategy’s Michael Saylor as a major inspiration.
