Cboe BZX Refiles Applications for Solana ETFs
Cboe BZX Exchange has resubmitted filings on behalf of four asset managers (Bitwise, VanEck, 21Shares, and Canary Capital) seeking to list a spot Solana exchange-traded fund (ETF) in the US this year.
These 19b-4 filings were refiled on January 28th after the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reportedly rejected the initial applications late last year.
The resubmissions effectively restart the SEC’s review process, now under the leadership of the regulator’s new, more crypto-friendly acting chair, Mark Uyeda. If approved, a Solana ETF would make Solana the third cryptocurrency available through a spot ETF on US stock exchanges, following existing products tracking Bitcoin and Ether.
Asset managers have also filed applications for spot ETFs tracking XRP, Litecoin, and even Dogecoin, which analysts view as a testing ground to determine which crypto products will receive approval under the current SEC leadership. Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas believes a Litecoin ETF may be the next to gain SEC approval, as applications for such products are reportedly already under active review by the regulator.
